Today I’m writing my first blog and I’m so happy to have you join me on this journey. I will base my writings on two pillars: Coaching Principles and Personal Experience. So why a blog? I’ve reached a point in my life where I want to share my learning with others. I hope you will benefit from my perspective!
Let me start by telling you a little bit about myself. I grew up in Mumbai, India; the oldest of three and the only girl. My mum was a stay at home trained teacher who took every opportunity to present life lessons to us through daily happenings. She will always be my role model and taught me the earliest lessons about being a mother and a wife. My dad was a hardworking professional who served at a national bank for 40 years! He is principled, well disciplined, hard working and never hesitates to try something new. He is also quick tempered and impatient, which also taught me valuable lessons! While mum was structured in her approach to life, dad was exploratory in his. The foundation for my current life was laid thousands of miles away in Mumbai and I could not have been more fortunate.
When I married my husband and subsequently moved to Toronto, my life changed forever. Together, we adjusted to a new life, new culture, and the challenges of raising a family. I am blessed with a wonderful husband and two daughters of whom I couldn’t be more proud. The last 30 years of marriage have taught me valuable life lessons. My husband and I are polar opposites. It can be an asset when we approach problems from different perspectives, but trust me, it can be difficult at times too. I would not change him or my family for the world. Family has always been one of my core values. I am blessed to be very close to my birth family and my extended family.
My life appears perfect, but it isn’t. It would be a delusion to think so. I’ve had my ups and downs, highs and lows, happy moments and sorrows. I’ve “coached” my way through life’s problems without realizing I was doing it. I remained optimistic and always looked at the glass half full.
When I trained as a coach in 2017, a light bulb went on as I realized that I had hit a gold mine. My natural ability to see problems across many dimensions was suddenly an asset that I could use to help others! I felt I had found my purpose.
I am excited to take you on this journey with me, as I share my learnings against the backdrop of my own experiences.
Stay tuned!
